Since January 2005, the Highway 407 East project has undergone various environmental and design studies as part of provincial and federal Environmental Assessments as outlined below.

Provincial Environmental Assessment


On June 3, 2010, Ontario’s Minister of the Environment approved the Provincial Environmental Assessment (EA), subject to a number of
conditions.

The 407 EA approved transportation corridor that includes:

  • The Highway 407 Mainline – from Brock Road to Highway 35/115
  • Two north-south links – Highway 412 and Highway 418 – that will connect Highway 407 to Highway 401
  • Protection for a dedicated transit way and support facilities

Federal Environmental Assessment


On Thursday, July 7, 2011, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) announced the Minister’s final environmental assessment decision for the 407 Transportation Corridor Project in Ontario. The announcement regarding the Decision Statement can be viewed  here.
